ARE YOU SAFE?
ARE YOU SAFE?
When you woke up this morning, maybe you mumbled some few prayers talking to God and probably went to take a bath and jumped with your suitcase or for some of us, a bagpack strapped to your back like a mother carrying her three year-old son before you rushed out of the house.
But did you caution the driver not to overspeed and overtake other vehicles because you do not want to get late to work.
The phone call can wait and one can dial the number later just to get in touch with the caller, but a life lost cannot be retrieved.
Accidents are preventable as long as we are proactive.Usually, what leads to accidents is when people engage in an unsafe act or put an unsafe condition in place.
The spilling of palm oil on the ground in the kitchen with it ignored and not mopped dry and cleaned is an unsafe condition. I bet you that it's just a matter of time before someone walks into the kitchen and slips and falls down.
Not putting on your seatbelt while driving or while seated in the passenger seat next to the driver is an unsafe act.
An unsafe condition is what progresses to an unsafe act if it is not addressed and corrected.
Please don't get used to your work schedule thinking you might not be prone to health and safety hazards.
Never get carried away with trying to meet deadlines and in such a process take shortcuts without considering the safety of yourself and the people you associate with both in your office and in your neighbourhood.
Safety should always be our number one priority.
